Grants under £10,000

Allied Vehicles Charitable Trust

Grants are available for charity and community organisations in Scotland.

Amount: funding is at the discretion of the Trust, however so far, grants have ranged from £400 to £6,000 per project.

Grants are available for UK registered charities and other not-for-profit organisations for projects, including those whose work directly supports those most affected by the cost-of-living crisis, which are embedded in the communities in which Arnold Clark operates in England, Scotland or Wales.

Christina Mary Hendrie Trust

Grants are available for charitable organisations across Scotland to support projects and activities that improve the lives and well-being of young people, and the elderly. The average grants is around £7,500

DSL Business Finance Social Enterprise Loans (under and over £10,000)

Loans are available for new and existing businesses and social enterprises that are located in Scotland. DSL provides business start up and growth loans for small businesses and social enterprises that are unable to secure funding from banks and other traditional sources and/or require match funding for a public sector loan/grant.

Essentia Foundation

Deadline: 25/11/2024

Grants are available to community groups in Scotland for projects aiming to improve the health and social welfare of children and young people, and to support opportunities for training, enhanced learning and upskilling for young people up to 25 years old. The current round is for small grants only.

Amount: up to £3,000

FCC Scottish Action Fund (under and over £10,000)

Deadline: 20/11/2024

Grants are available to not-for-profit organisations for environmental and community-based projects that are within 10 miles of any landfill site or transfer station in Scotland and are for the benefit of the general public.

Amount: £2,000 to £40,000

Groundwork - One Stop Community Partnership Programme

Next deadline: 24/01/2025

Grants are available through a partnership programme to support not-for-profit organisations with local community projects that address social welfare and environmental issues. The programme is designed to create a partnership of support to community groups, operating within two miles of a One Stop store, who are working in a number of categories including running youth sports teams.

James T Howat Charitable Trust

Funding is available for voluntary and community organisations in Scotland which provide a benefit to their community.

An accelerator programme for ambitious, social enterprise start-ups in Scotland that have the commitment and ambition to grow and achieve greater social impact.

Amount: Support package valuing up to £10,000

Mickel Fund

Grants are available for registered charities for projects in Scotland that address the charitable objectives of the Fund.

Amount: £10,000

National Lottery Awards for All - Scotland

Grants of between £300 and £10,000 are available for voluntary, community and public sector organisations in Scotland to carry out projects that will improve local communities and the lives of people most in need.

Persimmon Community Champions

One-off grants of around £1,000 are available for local community organisations and charities that have already secured matched funding for local community initiatives across England, Scotland and Wales.

Robertson Trust (under £10,000 and registered charities)

Grants are offered for registered charities (all Grants) and constituted community groups (Wee Grants only) that help people and communities in Scotland who are living with poverty and trauma. For more details of the kind of work funded, and the who and what check out their website.

The programmes currently open are:

Wee Grants - Funding of up to £5,000 for one year only
Small Grants - Revenue funding of between £5,000 and £20,000 for up to five years
Large Grants - Revenue funding of between £20,000 and £50,000 for up to five years
Transport Grants - Funding of up to £20,000 to contribute to the costs of transport to support a charity's work.

Ross and Liddell Community Bursaries

Grants are available for local community groups and charities in Scotland to buy equipment and materials to improve the services they provide to their local communities.

SafeDeposits Scotland – Community Fund

Next deadline: 29/11/2024

Grants are available for organisations across Scotland to deliver projects and activities that enhance local communities by addressing issues such as sustainability, the environment, employability, and social and digital inclusion. This fund will support a variety of projects and activities that benefit local communities, such as enhancing play areas, planting trees, providing isolated individuals with social opportunities, and helping young people prepare for work.

Amount: up to £5,000

Scottish Communities Finance - Social Enterprise Bridging Loan (under and over £10,000)

The scheme is intended to provide third sector organisations in Scotland with short-term loans that are used to bridge periods when expected income doesn’t arrive as originally agreed or planned.

Loans of between £1,000 and £15,000 are available. Loans are for no more than six months.

Scottish Gambling Education Hub – Gambling Education Youth Fund

Grants of up to £1,000 are available for groups of young people across Scotland to deliver gambling education and prevention projects and activities.

SEAD Fund (Scottish Education And Action For Development)

Small grants of £250 are available for small community groups and individuals to run or kick-start campaign activity that engages with people and has a demonstrable impact promoting social justice.

SportScotland – Coach education subsidy funding

Coach education subsidy funding aims to support the development of coaches through financial subsidies of the cost of their development and the attainment of relevant qualifications to complement their skills. The cost of a course can often be seen as a barrier to coaches participating in learning and development. Coach education subsidy funding is also in place to encourage Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) approaches and access to sport in different communities throughout Scotland.

Sports Charity Scotland

Grants are available to charitable organisations in Scotland who operate within sectors representing children, young people and sport.

Amount: up to £5,000

SUEZ Communities Fund Scotland (over and under £10,000)

Grants are available to non-profit making organisations in Scotland for projects under the categories of Land Reclamation (Object A), Community Recycling (Object B), Public Amenities (Object C), Biodiversity (Object D) and Historic Buildings (Object E).

Trefoil – Organisational Grants

Grants are available for registered charities and other not-for-profit organisations to deliver projects and activities that support children with additional needs across Scotland.

Volant Charitable Trust Small Grants Programme

Deadline: 18/12/2024

Grants are available for organisations to support projects to address poverty and social deprivation during the current cost of living crisis, with emphasis on children, young people and women.

Amount: up to £5,000

W M Sword Charitable Trust

Grants are available for voluntary and community organisations in Scotland that provide relief and assistance to children and other persons who are sick or are otherwise in conditions of need, hardship or distress.

Foundation Scotland - Investing in Enterprise Fund

Grant and loan investments of between £10,000 and £250,000 are available to social enterprises, community organisations and charities within specified areas of Scotland to benefit the communities. The investment can be used for: Working capital, Acquisition of assets, Business growth, Capital expenditure.

National Lottery Community Fund - Community Action (Scotland)

Grants are available to voluntary and community organisations in Scotland for community-led projects that build open and inclusive community cohesion.

Amount: between £20,001 and £250,000 for up to five years

National Lottery Community Fund - Fairer Life Chances (Scotland)

Grants are available to voluntary and community and public sector organisations in Scotland for projects that support children, young people and families, or help people to be healthier and have better access to support, with a focus on those experiencing poverty, discrimination and disadvantage.

Amount: between £20,001 and £500,000 for up to five years

National Lottery Community Fund - Young Start Fund

Grants are available to voluntary and community organisations in Scotland for work that helps young people (aged 8 to 24) to become more confident and play an active part in realising their potential.

Amount: £20,000 to £100,000

Grants are available for third sector organisations to develop and deliver short breaks projects and services for disabled children and young people (aged 20 and under), and their carers (adult and/or young carers) in Scotland.

Amount: up to £35,000

Social Investment Scotland All Purpose Loan Fund

Loan support to not-for-profit social economy organisations throughout Scotland that are unable to raise funding, either in total or in part, from normal commercial sources such as banks; have a clear social purpose that will make a real difference to the communities in which they operate; and can demonstrate long-lasting social impacts.

Amount: £10,000 to £1,500,000

Social Investment Scotland - Bridging Loan

Bridging loans are available to charities and social enterprises in Scotland to cover short-term cash shortfalls.

sportscotland - Sports Facilities Fund

Deadlines for submissions are 1 April and 1 September each year.

The Sport Facilities Fund (SFF) supports capital projects that create or improve places where people take part in sport and physical activity. To support projects that provide opportunities for people to get involved in and participate in sport & physical activity.

Projects that can clearly demonstrate an inclusive approach such as Changing Lives Through Sport and Physical Activity, or projects that target participants in/from SIMD areas, with additional needs, from ethnically diverse communities, or other protected characteristics will be prioritised.

sportscotland - Transforming Scottish Indoor Tennis Fund

Grants are available for community organisations and partnerships to support investment in and creation of indoor tennis facilities across Scotland.

Bank of Scotland Foundation - Energise Programme

Deadline: 11/12/2024

Unrestricted grants are available to registered charities in Scotland that support vulnerable groups.

Amount: grants of up to £40,000 (£20,000 per year over two years)

Gannochy Trust (across Scotland and local to Perth and Kincross)

Grants are available across Scotland for work that aims to inspire young people under 25 years of age; and for projects in Perth and Kinross that aim to improve the quality of life for local people, develop and inspire young people or improve the availability/quality of the built and natural environment for wide community use.

Hugh Fraser Foundation

Grants are available to registered charities and community interest companies for charitable work in a number of different sectors in Scotland. Grants can be for one year or up to three years

MacRobert Trust

Grants which can range from £1,000 to £50,000 are available for UK registered charities with a preference for organisations based in Scotland which have projects that address the themes set out by The MacRobert Trust which include local community.

Morrisons Foundation

Grants are available to registered charities for new projects which directly improve the lives of local people or communities, especially those that are vulnerable or disadvantaged, in England, Scotland or Wales.

Amount: up to £10,000

Robertson Trust (under £10,000 and registered charities)

The programmes currently open are:

Wee Grants - Funding of up to £5,000 for one year only

Robertson Trust - Nurturing Relationships

Deadline: 24/01/2025

Grants are available to registered charities working to support nurturing relationships within families and communities, to help break the cycle between persistent poverty and intergenerational trauma, and to support recovery.

Two levels of funding are available:

Small Grants - Revenue funding of between £5,000 and £20,000 per year for up to three years.
Large Grants - Revenue funding of between £20,000 and £50,000 per year for up to three years.

Russell Trust

Grants are available to registered charities for a wide range of charitable purposes in the UK, with a preference for Scotland. Most grants are in the range of between £250 and £2,000. One or two larger grants of between £10,000 and £20,000 may be awarded annually. The Trust has a wide criteria for grant making including the advancement of public participation in sport.

Grants are available to community groups and organisations in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen – Health Improvement Fund

Grants are available for charities, community groups, voluntary organisations, and other not-for-profit organisations in Aberdeen North to deliver locality based projects and activities that improve health and wellbeing and address health inequalities.

Amount: up to £5,000

Aberdeenshire Council Common Good Fund

Grants are available to local groups for projects that benefit local communities within the Aberdeenshire area.

Aberdeenshire - Formartine Area Committee Funding

Grants are available to constituted community groups in the Formartine area of Aberdeenshire for projects to improve theareaand address community needs.

Amount: up to £5,000

Active East Lothian – Grants and support

East Lothian Council provides funding support for coaches, athletes and officials to continue their development.

Angus - Common Good Funds

Grants are available to non-profit-making groups for projects that benefit people living in the former burghs of Arbroath, Brechin, Forfar, Kirriemuir and Montrose.

Caithness and North Sutherland Fund

Deadline: 18/12/2024

Grants available to not-for-profit organisations in Caithness and North Sutherland for community development projects.

David and June Gordon Memorial Trust

Grants of between £500 and £2000 are available for groups and organisations in the Northeast of Scotland to support projects and activities that promote music, the arts, youth groups, community centres, and continuing ecumenical services.

Dundee - Holiday Diversionary Programme

Grants are available to provide diversionary activity programmes for young people during school holiday periods in Dundee.

East Ayrshire Council – Renewable Energy Fund

Grants are available for voluntary and community groups, social enterprises, local authorities, and other agencies in East Ayrshire to deliver projects and activities that benefit local communities and environments, and leave a lasting legacy for residents.

East Lothian - Awards to Coaches and Officials

Financial assistance is available to support the development of coaches and officials working in a voluntary capacity with local clubs in East Lothian.

Amount: up to £750

East Lothian - Willie Innes Special Awards

Grants are available to clubs, groups and individual sports persons in East Lothian for activities not already covered by East Lothian Council's Sports Award Scheme.

Amount: £300

Edinburgh - Community Grants Fund

The Community Grants Fund (CGF) is a small grants scheme provided by the Council. Small grants of up to £5,000 can be awarded to constituted groups for local community activity. Grants can be applied for throughout the year.

Edinburgh and Lothians Trust Fund - Grants for Voluntary Organisations

Financial assistance is available to voluntary organisations. The Trustees will consider funding to assist progress in any local charitable organisation by grant-aid up to £2000 annually to cover specific main administrative and developmental needs.

Examples could be: Volunteer expenses, Recruitment and training of volunteers, Training of staff, Essential equipment, including IT and telecommunications for the speicifc project, Printing and publicity.

Edinburgh Local Community Microgrants

Small grants are available to local not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises for small scale community activities and local action projects that benefit local communities in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.

Amount: up to £500

Falkirk Council - Community Asset Transfer Grant

Grants for groups undergoing or planning a Community Asset Transfer (CAT) process to cover associated costs.

Amount: up to £12,500

Falkirk Council - Community Choices: Small Grants

Deadline: 09/12/2024

Small grants for participatory budgeting projects to improve the quality of life for residents in Falkirk by supporting activities to make communities fairer, healthier, more connected and more inclusive.

Amount: up to £5,000

Fife Council

Various grants for sport and youth groups and individuals can be found on the Fife Council website.

Fife Environment Trust - Small and Large Grants Scheme

Grants of up to £50,000 are available for community, environmental and heritage projects that benefit local communities within Fife.

Fife - Youth Work Projects Grant

Grants are available to voluntary organisations who wish to develop innovative projects with young people in Fife.

Amount: £500

Foundation Scotland - Community Benefit Funds

Funding for voluntary and community organisations which are working for the benefit of residents and communities in specific community council areas in Scotland.

Foundation Scotland - EDF Renewables Burnhead Mossl Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund (Limerigg & Slamannan)

Grants of between £150 and £3000 are available to not-for-profit organisations for community projects in Limerigg and Slamannan. Grants may support a wide range of costs, for example, the costs of equipment, staff or sessional workers, consultations, running costs for local groups, maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities.

Foundation Scotland - Lairg Wind Farm Community Fund

Grants of up to £5000 are available to not-for-profit organisations for projects which benefit local communities in the council area of Lairg in Sutherland.

Foundation Scotland - River Avich Hydro Open Grants Fund

The Fund supports charitable projects to benefit people living in Inverinan, Lochavich, Dalavich and Kilmaha in Argyll and Bute.

The strategic themes supported by the scheme are:

Community centre.
Infrastructure and services.
Communication/community spirit.
Local environment.
Tourism and facilities (activities).
Children and young people.
Employment and opportunity.

Amount: grants up to £10,000 are available for one year although awards for a maximum of three years may be considered.

Gannochy Trust (across Scotland and local to Perth and Kincross)

Gannochy Trust – Youth Panel Fund

Grants are available for charities across Perth and Kinross to deliver projects and activities that support young people aged 11 to 26.

Amount: usually around £5,000

Glasgow - Area Partnership Grants

Grants are available to voluntary and community groups in Glasgow to provide services that will help to achieve Glasgow City Council's objectives.

Glasgow – Glasgow’s Holiday Programme

Deadline: 09/12/2024

Grants are available to community and third-sector organisations in Glasgow to deliver a programme of activities and food to children and young people (aged 0-18 years old) during the school holidays.

Glasgow Life – Active Glasgow Communities Fund

Deadline: monthly until 28/02/2025

Grants are available for voluntary sports and physical activity organisations in Glasgow City to restart community activity and sports with a particular focus on under-represented groups.

Priority will be given to projects and activities that target under-represented groups, including, but not limited to, the following:

Black and Minority Ethnic communities.
LGBTQ+ communities.
Communities living in relative poverty (SIMD 1 and 2).
Women and Girls.
People with Disabilities.
Older Adults.

Glengarry Trust

Grants are available to charities and other not-for-profit groups operating in the Glengarry Community Council area for a wide range of charitable activities.

Amount: Small grants up to £3,000 and large grants up to £10,000

Gordon and Ena Baxter Foundation

Grants of between £100 and £25,000 are available for community groups, charities, and voluntary organisations to support projects that benefit communities in Northern Scotland.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise - Community Right to Buy Fund

Grants are available to support community groups in the Highlands and Islands in registering their interest in purchasing land or buildings.

Amount: up to £5,000

Holywood Trust

Grants are available for organisations in Dumfries and Galloway working with young people (15-25 years) particularly those experiencing mental, physical and social disadvantage. Projects should contribute to young people's personal development in a tangible way.

Kirkcaldy - Participatory Budgeting: You Decide

Grants are available for community projects in the Kirkcaldy area to benefit local residents.

Amount: between £500 and £15,000

Landsec Futures Community Grants

Deadline: 10/02/2025

Unrestricted grants for local charities and not-for-profit organisations based near a participating Landsec site (Glasgow, Buchanan Galleries) to support the needs of their local community.

Amount: between £1,000 and £3,000

North Ayrshire - Community Benefit Fund

Grants for activities and projects to benefit the communities of Ardrossan, Isle of Arran, Saltcoats and Stevenston.

Perth and Kinross - Common Good Funds

Grants for local community groups to benefit the residents of the areas of Aberfeldy, Abernethy, Auchterarder, Alyth, Blairgowrie, Crieff, Kinross, Perth City and Pitlochry.

Quixwood Moor Wind Farm Fund

Grants are available for local charities, community and voluntary groups, and other non-profit organisations for projects that benefit the local community around the area of the Quixwood Moor Wind Farm.

Amount: up to £5,000

Renfrewshire - Green Spaces, Parks and Play Areas Fund

Grants for community and voluntary groups for projects to sustainably improve and maintain the condition and use of a green space or community asset.

Amount: up to £50,000

Scottish Borders Council - Community Enhancement Fund

Grants of up to £5000 are available for not-for-profit organisations to support community projects that benefit residents in the Scottish Borders including those in the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving condition of life for the person for who the facilities or activities are primarily intended.

Scottish Borders Council - Cheviot Neighbourhood Support Fund

Grants are available to voluntary and community groups for community-based projects in the Cheviot area (Jedburgh and Kelso districts).

Amount: up to £5,000

Scottish Borders Council - Eildon Neighbourhood Support Fund

Deadline: 19/12/2024 then 13/02/2025

The Fund provides support and assistance for the development of community-based projects for voluntary and community groups that are active within Eildon.

Amount:

A total of £86,000 is available in 2024/25.
Fast tracks of up to £1,500 are assessed monthly and are available for both unconstituted and constituted groups.
Grants of up to £5,000 are available for unconstituted groups.
Grants of up to £10,000 are available for constituted groups.

Scottish Borders Council - Tweeddale Neighbourhood Support Fund

Grants are available to voluntary and community groups for community-based projects in Tweeddale in the Scottish Borders.

Amount: up to £7,500

Scottish Borders Council - Teviot and Liddesdale Neighbourhood Support Fund

Next deadline: 20/01/2025

Grants are available to voluntary and community groups for community-based projects in Teviot and Liddesdale.

Shetland Islands - Community Led Local Development Fund

Grants are available to not-for-profit organisations in Shetland for community development projects.

Amount: from £3,000 upwards

Soirbheas Community Grants

Deadline: 01/01/2025

Grants for a range of projects and activities to benefit residents in the community council areas of Glen Urquhart and Strathglass.

There are three funding streams available:

Tier 1 (Express Grants): up to £1,000 per annum.
Tier 2: £1,000 to £20,000 for two years.
Tier 3: £20,001 to £50,000 for capital projects.

South Lanarkshire - Playscheme Grants

Financial assistance is available for groups to provide activities for children during school holidays in South Lanarkshire.

SSE Clyde Extension Community Fund

Grants are available for projects to benefit the local communities of Duneaton, Biggar, Symington, and Quothquan and Thankerton.

Amount: between £5,001 and £50,000

SSE Clyde South Lanarkshire Wind Farm Fund

Grants are available for local projects which fall within a 15km radius of the Clyde Wind Farm and benefit local residents. The funding is intended to assist communities within the local Wind Farm area with capital projects which will benefit local people and support the local economic prosperity of South Lanarkshire.

There are two funding options:

Small grant scheme - provides grants of less than £10,000 and up to 100% of total 'eligible' costs.
Community fund – provides grants over £10,000 and up to 75% of eligible costs with a requirement for match funding.
